UofL’s online Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) program offers two degree options: 1) Advanced Standing – 30 hours (for BSW graduates) and 2) Regular – 60 hours (for non-social work graduates), focused on application of methods and decision-making practices that promote social justice and build stronger communities.
This program is accredited by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE).

Due to high enrollment demand, we encourage all candidates to submit their application as early as possible in order to be considered for the next available term/start. Strong applications submitted after the deadline are considered by the admissions committee on a case-by-case basis and as space (enrollment count) allows.

Match Your Educational Background with the Right Degree Track
The Advanced Standing track is a 30-credit hour program designed for students who already hold a BSW degree, building on previous academic knowledge without repeating lower level coursework.
The Standard track is a 60-credit hour program that prepares professionals with various academic backgrounds to begin or move forward in their social work career. This extended MSSW curriculum helps you develop skills and knowledge focused around 1) children and families, 2) health and mental health, and 3) community and international practice.
You can choose between a 3-year or 4-year curriculum plan that accommodates your learning style, professional and personal commitments or schedule and helps you achieve your goals at your own pace.
